Living in Truckee California

Living in Truckee California is like residing in a perpetual base camp, where everyday can be a new adventure. Each year more and more people migrate to Truckee and call it home. While there are many seasonal residents and second home owners, there are an equal amount of full time residents.

Imagine life in a small community where you know everyone and people treat you like family. Truckee is a close knit community. Those of us who live here full time know that a morning of snow shoveling is a prerequisite to an epic ski day. But the fun doesn't stop when the snow recedes. In fact, the surrounding hiking trails, streams and lakes offer many summer activities too. An average day might include a morning hike, lunch in town and music in the park at night.

Truckee has many organic food outlets along with a large Safeway grocery store. In the summer, the Farmer's Market in the Truckee Regional Park provides access to heirloom vegetables, gourmet cheeses, meats and seafoods. Residents can enjoy the best of what the artisan farms in Northern California have to offer.

There are many wellness centers that offer yoga, pilates and other healing modalities. Families can enjoy free outdoor movies at Squaw Valley or Friday Fun Nights at Northstar. Kids can mini golf, get their faces painted and watch balloon twisting. New mothers can join Buggy Bootcamp, a stroller-based fitness program for busy moms. Whether you are single or growing a family, there is something for everyone.

The nightlife in Truckee includes music at Cottonwoods Restaurant, high on the hill overlooking downtown Truckee. Moody's Bistro is another popular place for happy hour and free music. The town includes many excellent restaurants. One of my favorites is Morgan's Lobster Shack and Fish Market, tucked along the river behind the train tracks. Trokay, Truckee Tavern and Grill, and Pianeta in Old Town Truckee are also popular.

Breakfast might include a coffee and pastry at Wild Cherry's, a hearty breakfast at Jax at the Tracks or the Squeeze In located in Old Town Truckee. Choosing your favorite espresso shop might be challenging. There are many to choose from including Wild Cherry's, CoffeeBar, Dark Horse Coffee Roasters and of course, Starbucks located in the Safeway Shopping Center.

The quality of life in Truckee is what makes it attractive to so many. The day usually begins with a few tracks on fresh powder prior to rolling into the office in our winter casual wear. The locals are adventurous, healthy and conscientious and although we may have a few challenging driving days in the snow - all that Truckee offers as a lifestyle choice more than makes up for it.

I would love to introduce you to a community I have come to love and enjoy. Whether you are thinking of buying a vacation home or a full time residence, I can help you find the place that is perfect for you. Call me today!
